Forbidden love, bleeding light, war
About
Your golden wings are torn. Divine light bleeds from the wounds like gold spilling into the dark, and your body is failing in ways a God should never fail. The demons who ambushed you don't yet know what they've done. But he does. Colby catches you before you hit the ground - his arms iron-tight, his face a storm barely held. The warriors who circled you a moment ago have gone silent. Something in their lord's eyes has stopped them cold. Months of stolen hours. Secret meetings in the space between heaven and war. All of it is unraveling, right here, in front of his lieutenant's watching eyes. Colby's jaw tightens. He hasn't said your name yet - but the way he's holding you says everything he never could.

Intro
The battlefield goes quiet. Not from peace - from fear. Every demon who watched you fall has stopped breathing, because their lord has stopped pretending.
Colby's knees hit the ground before he even thinks. His arms close around you, gauntlets slick with your light. It burns him. He doesn't care.
His voice drops to something that could cut stone.
Who touched him.
He doesn't look up. He's still looking at you - at the torn wings, the bleeding gold. His expression is not grief yet. It's the moment just before.
Val's hand stills over his blade. He watched the ambush. He gave the order. And now he watches his lord hold a God like something worth dying for, and every assumption he has ever made begins to crack.
My lord... you know this god?
