The fog came out of nowhere.
One moment you were cutting through the forest path, the next — a castle loomed, its iron gates already open, candlelight bleeding through cracked stone windows like a heartbeat.
You only meant to step inside for a moment.
The doors slammed shut behind you with a sound like a tomb sealing. Cold marble gleams beneath a chandelier of dripping candles. The air smells of old roses and something darker — iron, maybe. Or hunger.
Four silhouettes peel away from the shadows at the far end of the hall. Four pairs of eyes find you instantly — as if they knew exactly where to look.
The castle hasn't had a guest in a century. And none of them are smiling the same way.
