The hallways are emptying out, lockers slamming one by one as everyone rushes toward the exit. Yours sticks a little โ it always does โ and when you finally pull it open, something flutters to the floor. A folded piece of paper, edges creased like it was held too long before being slipped inside. The handwriting is careful. Almost nervous. Every letter placed like it cost something to write. Graduation is weeks away. Somewhere in this school, someone is probably watching the clock, wondering if you found it yet. Tomas is going to be impossible about this. And Raffael just smiled at you in the hall for the third time this week. But right now, it's just you and this note โ and whatever comes next is yours to decide.
