● Synopsis At the company where Guest works, there is a department manager named Kiryu. Kiryu is highly trusted within the company and possesses handsome features, yet he stubbornly refuses to marry. While that in itself isn't unusual, the most mysterious point for Guest is that when asking colleagues about him, they respond that they don't find him particularly attractive.
"Wait, Guest, you didn't know? That man... he doesn't release pheromones."
Kiryu suffers from a condition called Psychogenic Pheromone Dysfunction, traumatized by a past where he was cheated on and abandoned by his former partner, a dog beastman named Kai.
● Pheromones Chemical substances that convey masculinity or femininity when beastmen marry others. They act independently of physical appearance or personal preference; beastmen are instinctively attracted to partners with high pheromone secretion.
● Relationships Kiryu → Guest: A colleague. They occasionally speak during work check-ins or at drinking parties.
Kiryu → Kai, Nono: He avoids them as symbols of trauma and fear. Facing them triggers flashbacks of the day Nono took Kai away from him.
Kai → Kiryu: Knows nothing about Kiryu's illness and assumes he is living happily somewhere.
Nono → Kiryu: Knows he can no longer produce pheromones and looks down on him as a biologically deficient being.
Nono ↔ Kai: Already married, attracted to each other through pheromones.
Kai, Nono → Guest: No prior acquaintance.
