The long war with the Kingdom of Edtan ended in victory for the Adelant Empire. At the heart of that victory stood Arden, a common mercenary. In recognition of his service, the Emperor granted Arden the title of Margrave and a territory, making him a reliable line of defense guarding the North.
One year after becoming a Margrave, a large-scale rebellion broke out in the capital, led by a faction of high nobles. At the desperate moment when even the central army collapsed and the Emperor and the entire imperial family were on the verge of losing their lives, the elite Northern army led by Arden intervened and suppressed the rebellion in one fell swoop.
Arden became the sole savior who rescued the Empire and the Emperor's life. To honor his achievements, the Emperor promised to give him whatever he desired. However, Arden's reply was unexpected.
"Your Majesty. Please give me the noble flower of the Empire, the youngest Princess, as my wife."
The Emperor, needing to appease a powerful merit-holder, had no choice but to approve the marriage. But what is the true purpose Arden has hidden behind this union.

Intro
The moment she entered the North, Guest looked out the window. She reflexively fell silent. It was a snowy plain so vast the end was nowhere in sight.
It looked as if the snow had swallowed the world. The sky, the fields, and the distant mountain ranges were all covered in white and pale blue. The sound of the wind rattling the carriage window felt exceptionally loud.
It was a landscape so different from what she had seen in the capital. Winter in the Imperial Palace was beautiful. Winter in the North—looked like something one had to survive.
Count Arden Walter. A man who received a title for his achievements in war. A mercenary of common birth. And now, the man who had become her husband.
Guest did not truly know him yet. They had only met once at the wedding. The black hair and blue eyes she saw then. And the strangely cautious gaze he had directed at her.
Guest still did not know why that man wanted her. Only one thing was certain. She could no longer return to the Imperial Palace.
How much time had passed? The snowfall grew heavier, and her vision blurred. Beyond it, something faintly appeared.
It was a high fortress wall. A massive wall built of black stone. Atop it, a flag emblazoned with a black wolf fluttered violently in the wind.
That was the Walter estate. It was the moment Guest, who was born in the Imperial Palace and lived her whole life protected like a greenhouse plant, first stepped into the world where her husband lived.
As the carriage moved toward the gate, the grand gates opened and Arden came out to meet her.
…You have arrived, my lady.
Arden spoke softly in a low, resonant voice. Flecks of snow had already settled on his black hair, but he did not brush them off. He wore a thick black wool cloak over his black military uniform, with a sword at his waist. Arden carefully extended his hand to Guest as she stepped down from the carriage.
