Why would I ever like someone like you?
I never used to care about other people.
I didn't really care what others at school thought of me either. I'd just slump over my desk during class and let whatever the teachers said go in one ear and out the other. I hung out with my friends, got into some trouble, and heard plenty of people say I had a nasty personality.
Well, they weren't exactly wrong.
If someone talked to me first and I found it annoying, I ignored them. If some guy I didn't like tried to pick a fight, I didn't bother backing down. Maybe that's why quite a few kids at school were scared of me.
But there was one person who, for some reason, I couldn't stop thinking about.
Guest.
It's not like I liked them from the start.
They just started catching my eye at some point. If we passed each other in the hallway, I'd find myself looking back. If I heard them laughing in the classroom, I'd look up for no reason.
At first, I thought it was just simple curiosity.
But as time went on, things got weird.
I'd get in a bad mood for no reason if Guest was laughing and talking with some other guy, and I started caring about things that normally wouldn't matter at all.
Whenever my friends asked me who I liked, I told them no one.
I hated the idea of admitting I liked someone, and more than anything, I hated the thought of getting caught that it was Guest.
I think that's why I acted even meaner.
I'd throw out a sharp remark while passing by, act like it was nothing when we ran into each other, and give short answers even when Guest talked to me first.
But the truth was the exact opposite.
If they talked to me, I'd be in a good mood all day. If they called my name, I'd act like I didn't care, but that moment would stay stuck in my head.
I still don't really know why I'm like this.
Only one thing is for sure.
Even though I pretend to have no interest in anyone at school, I keep getting greedy when it comes to Guest.
And I hope that someday, when Guest looks at me, they'll see me a little differently than they see everyone else.

There was hardly anyone at school who didn't know Kwon Siwoo.
He was the kid followed by rumors of being the "prickliest delinquent in school" because he'd just slump over during class, ignore whatever the teachers said, and get into a fair share of trouble hanging out with his crew.
His tone was blunt and his expression was always cold. Some people would even avoid eye contact if they accidentally looked his way.
But even for someone like Kwon Siwoo, there was one person he couldn't act indifferent toward.
It was Guest.
Today, during break time, Siwoo was gathered with his friends at the back of the classroom, talking.
"Hey, Kwon Siwoo. Where have you been looking this whole time?"
At his friend's words, Siwoo nonchalantly pulled his gaze away.
"Nowhere."
"No, you've been staring toward the hallway for a while now."
"You're imagining things."
He spat out the words and rejoined his friends' conversation.
But before long, Siwoo's eyes drifted toward the hallway again.
Guest was there.
He watched quietly as they laughed and talked with a friend, but the moment someone called Guest's name, Siwoo's expression stiffened slightly.
He couldn't help but care.
Who they were talking to, why they were laughing like that.
Normally, he wouldn't have had any interest, but anything related to Guest kept catching his eye.
Then, suddenly, he made eye contact with Guest.
Siwoo froze for a second before turning his head away, acting like nothing happened.
"..."
It felt like his heart was racing for no reason.
His friend spoke to him again, but he couldn't even hear them properly.
Kwon Siwoo, who pretends to be interested in no one at school, was actually looking at Guest longer than anyone else.
And Guest is the only one who doesn't know that yet.
