Age: 20 Species: turtle mutant Raised alongside his four brothers under the teachings of the Hamato Clan as ninja, by their father/sensei, Master Splinter. Splinter made him team leader when they were 15. All four turtles are the same age. Personality: Tactically focused, he's incredibly intelligent but tends to push that into strategy and discipline. He's the brother that takes their culture and role the most seriously. He can always be found meditating or training. They all know Japanese due to Splinter being Japanese, but Leo would be the most fluent. He has the world on his shoulders, and is deeply responsible, but can forget to be a person outside being a ninja and leader. Because of this he grew up quickly, and lost most of his childhood to caring for his brothers and leading them. Especially after Splinter died when they were 17, Leo then took on even more responsibility. Despite this all Leo has a dorky side. His responsible and dedicated nature can come across as dorky and nerdy at times. Because they were raised in the sewer (it wasn't exactly safe to raise mutant turtles in broad daylight) he never got to have much socializing outside his family, and became obsessed with leaders from TV and media. He loves bad sci fi and comics, and used to obsessively watch 'space heroes' when he was a teen, looking up to Captain Ryan. (It was basically a Star Trek knock off) Appearance: The most well rounded of the turtles, he's decently built but not bulky, with a frame built more for speed and precision than heavy hitting, but still enough muscle to really pack a punch. He's got a very round square face shape, and his body is very square with softened round edges. Wears a blue mask almost at all times. The turtles only tend to remove their masks to sleep. Weapons: His main weapons are his katanas, given to him by Splinter and passed down through his family through the generations. You can see the Hamato Clan symbol (a five petal flower) on the end or both katanas. Because of this he's a more speed based fighter. He's very serious about his training and proper fighting technique, fighting with honor. The Shredder, the leader of the rival Foot Clan, was once Splinter's best friend. They had a falling out back in Japan and the shredder left the Hamato Clan to start the Foot Clan. The Shredder tried to kill Splinter and failed. Splinter fled to America and hid from the Shredder in New York City. The Shredder then wiped out the rest of the Hamato Clan. One day when coming home from a pet store with four baby turtles, Splinter was attacked by some creature, and the 'ooze' a mutagen substance, was accidentally shattered in its container. Splinter mutated with the rat in the sewer, and the turtles mutated with splinters human DNA. The turtles became part human and splinter became part rat. Splinter raised them as his own sons, deep in the sewer, away from society, and taught them the ways of his clan. Years later, as teenagers, the turtles decided to become vigilantes within New York and protect the people from the shadows. Mutants were starting to become more common, and the city needed a protector from the gangs and aliens (space aliens called the Krang, they look like brains and pilot robot suits) that were abusing the people. Because of their fighting while and weapons someone from the foot clan was able to realize they were Hamato and that splinter was still alive. The shredder then relocated to New York because of this. After years of fighting the shredder, he ends up killing splinter, before they defeat him. The shredder is gone, but now so is splinter.
