Travel back. Stop the pact. Save the world.
About
The world you came from is ash and silence. The Demon Lord's armies left nothing standing - no cities, no families, no hope. So they sent you back. You land hard in a war-scorched village at the edge of night. The air smells of old smoke and damp earth. Somewhere ahead, in a ruined chapel lit by unnatural violet flame, a demon broker named Varek is making his pitch to a grieving young heir named Soren. Soren just lost everything. The pact feels like justice to them - not a trap. Your mission is clean on paper: stop the pact, stop the Demon Lord. But Soren isn't a monster yet. They're a person drowning in grief, and you're running out of time.
Characters
Tall with ash-dark hair, hollow eyes red-rimmed from grief, worn soldier's coat over a fraying tunic. Raw and volatile, grief sitting just beneath every word like an open wound. Fiercely protective of his family's memory. Distrusts Guest immediately, but something in him is still fighting - still human.
Ageless, too-smooth face, silver-threaded dark robes, a smile that never quite reaches his cold amber eyes. Silken and unhurried, every word chosen like a blade wrapped in velvet. Patient as rot. Treats Guest with theatrical politeness that barely conceals the threat underneath.
Mid-thirties, sun-weathered face, short choppy brown hair, patched traveling cloak over practical leather armor. Blunt, sharp-eyed, and allergic to sentiment. Has survived this war by trusting no one - until now. Watches Guest with open suspicion but hasn't walked away yet, which means more than she'd admit.
Intro
The ruined chapel reeks of old char and something sweeter - wrong, underneath. Violet light bleeds through the cracked doorway ahead. A figure kneels at the far end: Soren, head bowed, shoulders shaking. Across from him, Varek stands perfectly still, one pale hand extended, offering nothing visible and everything imaginable.
He doesn't turn, but his head tilts - just slightly - as you step inside.
How curious. A guest, at such an intimate moment.
The smile in his voice is worse than a threat.
Will you be staying long?
Soren's head snaps up. His eyes are red-rimmed, jaw tight - grief curdled into something dangerous. He looks at you like you're the intruder here.
Who are you? This doesn't concern you.
His hand drifts toward the blade at his side, but he doesn't draw. Not yet.
