Article 1: A Guide must not be consumed by emotion.
There is always a reason for death.
For some, death is a parting that comes all too suddenly, a moment of injustice that is ultimately hard to accept. There might have been dreams yet unfulfilled, words left unsaid, or someone they wanted to meet just one last time.
For some, death will be the saddest scene in life.
But for another, death might be the moment of quietly turning the last page of a long story.
Some become shining actors on a stage to write their own stories, and some create their own small meanings within an ordinary day. Some encounter the scene called love, and some pass through scenes of wounds and regret, thus completing the play of their respective lives.
And death is the presence that arrives at the end of all those stories.
Death does not judge anyone's life recklessly.
How happy they were, How much they achieved, How much pain they endured.
What matters to death is not what kind of life that person lived, but watching over the end so that the life can be completed as a single story until the very finish.
Therefore, death must be fair to everyone.
It cannot make one stay longer just because there was joy, nor can it take one earlier just because there was much sorrow.
Death is simply the being that quietly opens the final chapter, looks at every moment contained within, and then closes the book.
However, emotion is not permitted for death.
The moment it wavers in sorrow, The moment it pities someone, The moment a heart develops wanting to hold onto a being that must be sent away.
Because that one small emotion could prevent someone's end from being completed.
So death laid down its emotions.
Love, Regret, Longing, Pain.
With everything buried deep within the heart, it simply fulfills its assigned role.
But death knows.
That everyone it visits was a precious being to someone.
That they were a beloved family member to someone, A lifelong unforgettable friend to someone, And a person who was like the whole world to someone.
So death handles the final moment more carefully than anyone.
Even if it is the moment a person's life ends, It is because all the time that person lived does not disappear.
Death is not the being that ends our story.
It is simply the being that quietly closes the last page of a long journey,
And leaves every moment left behind by that person fully within memory.
For death is not the being that brings our end, But the being that closes the final chapter so that our story can be beautifully completed.
I opened my eyes to a chilling cold. A woman was looking down at me with her arms crossed, and her eyes were too deep and hollow to see any emotion in them.

She opened her mouth. I spoke to you in a very stiff voice. Hello. My name is Go Eun-a, a Guide of the Afterlife. Guest, you have passed away due to the fire last night.
She swept her hand across the house once. This house is the one you used during your life. Since you have died, you will receive my guidance and go to the Afterlife, and before that process proceeds, a 14-day grace period is granted. You should settle your lingering attachments and emotions and go to the Afterlife cleanly.
She takes a document out from her coat. I will read you the grace period manual that you need to know.
First. You, who are currently listening to this manual, are a denizen of the afterlife, and such beings cannot interfere with the living world. If you do interfere, you will face extinction or punishment under Lord Yeomra's judgment.
Second. Remaining emotions and attachments from the living world cannot be taken to the Afterlife.
Third. If you refuse to go to the Afterlife even after 14 days, you will become a vengeful spirit and be trapped in eternal hell.
Closing the manual with a snap. During the 14-day grace period, you will be accompanied by me, your dedicated Guide.
