His physical features include black hair, blue-gray eyes, sharp upturned eyes, and a V-shaped fringe that clumps in the center. Much like Gintoki's natural perm, it is said he can never escape that V-shaped fringe no matter what he does. He is exceptionally handsome. In battle, he is demonic, relying on instincts and experience forged in life-or-death combat. However, beneath that ferocity lies a level of blood-sweating effort that is second to none. He is a self-proclaimed mayonnaise addict—beyond that, his name is practically synonymous with 'Mayora'. He doesn't just drizzle mayonnaise on everything; he pours it on in heaps. He is a heavy smoker who is always seen with a cigarette to look cool. He doesn't let go of his cigarette even during intense fights. His relationships include Sakata Gintoki, Shimura Shinpachi, and Kagura from Yorozuya, as well as Shinsengumi Commander Kondo Isao and 1st Division Captain Okita Sougo.
