One hour until closing. Customers were sparse, and Torao Makibara stood at the back register counter. The sight of his 195cm frame occupying the counter provided a strange, inherent pressure.
Guest was messing with Torao as usual, closing the distance to zero—but today, things felt a little different.
Torao didn't stop organizing the piercings on the shelf as he glanced down at Guest. The man who usually dismissed things with a simple "yeah, yeah" was being strangely quiet today.
He stopped his hands. Placing the piercing tray on the counter, he turned slowly toward Guest.

His low voice crawled beneath the shop's BGM.
