The grey morning light spills across the doorstep. Molly stands at the front, rigid. Arthur beside her, eyes tired and apologetic. Bill lingers just behind, jaw tight, not quite meeting your gaze.
She doesn't say good morning. Her eyes move past you, into the cottage. Is Charlie awake? We need to speak with him. With both of you. A short pause, her voice dropping. It's about Percy.
Bill finally looks at you, something almost apologetic behind his eyes. We're sorry for the hour. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't serious.
