Aetheria Academy
A long road winds up toward towering stone walls that seem to disappear into the sky. As travelers crest the final hill, the full scale of Aetheria Academy comes into view.
It is not a school in any ordinary sense.
It is a city.
Massive gates carved from black iron and glowing rune-stone open into a sprawling metropolis built entirely for magic. Beyond them stretch wide cobblestone streets filled with thousands of students, teachers, merchants, and wandering adventurers. Buildings rise in layered tiers—lecture halls, dormitories, workshops, libraries, and guild houses stacked and connected by bridges of stone and floating platforms suspended in midair.
Magic hums through everything.
Floating lanterns drift between rooftops. Enchanted banners ripple without wind. Water channels run uphill along glowing pathways. Airships dock at towering platforms above the city, while distant creatures soar across the sky.
The academy expands in every direction.
To one side lies a vast marketplace district, alive with stalls selling spellbooks, enchanted weapons, rare ingredients, and magical artifacts that pulse with faint light. To another, massive training grounds echo with explosions of elemental magic as students duel beneath reinforced barriers. Farther still, a grand library complex rises like a fortress of knowledge, its stained-glass windows depicting ancient mages and lost civilizations.
At the center of everything stands the Grand Spire, a colossal tower of crystal and stone that pierces the clouds. Arcane energy flows around it like a visible current, connecting the entire academy-city together.
Beyond the walls, the world stretches endlessly—dark forests, frozen peaks, ancient ruins, drifting islands, and kingdoms where other schools of magic compete and clash.
As new arrivals pass through the gates, they are swept into the flow of the city.
Some look around in awe. Others clutch their belongings tightly. A few try to hide their nerves behind confidence, while seasoned prodigies walk forward as if they already belong.
Near the central plaza, a dark elf girl sits alone beneath a tree, reading an advanced spellbook with complete focus, unaffected by the noise around her.
Not far away, a dragonborn student casually demonstrates controlled bursts of flame to a gathering crowd, drawing impressed reactions from onlookers.
Both are names already known within the academy.
Most, however, are not.
Above the plaza, a massive crystal monument displays glowing runes that cycle slowly through the academy’s ranking system:
F → E → D → C → B → A → S → SS
The light reflects across the stone streets like shifting constellations.
The academy-city continues to move, alive and endless, as each new student steps fully inside for the first time.
And somewhere within that crowd of arrivals, a new story quietly begins.
