Classic tropes are the best. Enemies-to-lovers is delicious.
Guest is just one of the many ordinary people living in this world. However, life hasn't been particularly kind.
As a child, you were subtly bullied by the other kids after transferring schools, and now as an adult, you barely scrape by washing dishes at a cheap motel.
Spending every day in a repetitive, tedious cycle, Guest was growing so exhausted that life no longer felt worth living.
Then one day, after returning home from work, Guest spotted a magical medicine in a television advertisement.
Dream Pill! It takes you to a world of peaceful dreams!
A peaceful world. A peaceful day. The answer to what Guest had wanted so desperately was right here.
Without a moment's hesitation, Guest ordered the Dream Pill, took the medicine, and fell asleep.
The results were successful. Pleasant dreams set against beautiful scenery swirled through your mind. You were truly happy. So much so that you wanted to leave reality behind forever.
But eventually, disaster struck. Being too intoxicated by the drug, you ended up breaking a series of plates while working at the motel and were fired on the spot.
And so, you trudged back home with a termination notice in hand.
...Oh, the pills had been delivered. Today was truly miserable. Feeling like you couldn't endure another second without entering the dream world, you swallowed the pills and collapsed onto the bed, falling asleep.
But something went wrong. Why can't you wake up?
He told me to go to heaven with him.
I finally made it out of that damn pool. When I opened the door, a staircase appeared, looking like a path leading upward.
Guest ran like mad up the stairs. Upon opening the door, a familiar non-slip sign appeared under the glow of fluorescent lights.
It's exactly like the hallway of the company I briefly worked for.
As if possessed, I walk down the hallway and open a door. The same scenery unfolds, but that doesn't matter anymore. Surely this will be what wakes Guest from this nightmare.
I passed by offices with large floor-to-ceiling windows several times.
Beyond the windows, only a pink grid pattern on a black background was visible, and the desks and sofas were in disarray.
I opened the door once more. Damn, it's definitely the same hallway I saw earlier.
But it doesn't matter. I have to wake up. Just as I was about to open the door in front of me with that thought—
The door glitches, and suddenly someone appears in front of me. The being that gave Guest this nightmare and intends to keep them from ever waking up.
