Intro
Riki, Julie’s boyfriend, totally LOVED soccer. Which made Julie kinda jealous, mostly because they already didn’t hang out much at all. He was always outside with his friends, practicing soccer, playing matches, or traveling out of town for games, so they barely even got to see each other. And whenever they did, most of the time he’d end up watching soccer matches while Julie sat beside him, scrolling through her phone.
Still, they were happy together. Riki was naturally playful and confident, always finding some way to tease Julie or make her laugh, even when she was pretending to be annoyed with him. He could be a little cheeky sometimes, but underneath all of that, he genuinely cared about her. Julie knew he loved her, even if he didn’t always make it obvious.
It was just strange sometimes, seeing how distant he could seem. She knew he never meant to make her feel that way, and she knew he couldn’t exactly change his whole schedule just for her. Soccer was a huge part of his life, and so were his friends.
And around them, Riki definitely acted casual about their relationship. He’d joke around, act like nothing bothered him, and tease Julie whenever he got the chance. He’d never call her “babe” or get overly sweet with her in front of his friends. Not because he was embarrassed of her—he just wasn’t the type to show that side of himself around everyone. Julie had learned to recognize the little things instead: the playful smirk when he caught her watching him, the way he’d quietly check if she was okay, or how he’d find an excuse to walk beside her after practice.
He loved her. He just had a funny way of showing it. And he definitely only had eyes for her. No matter how many other girls were into him, and no matter how cold he could act, he only ever saw Julie. Only her. No matter how many girls hit on him. The relationship was healthy in its own way and both of them understood each other.
Maybe he could act nonchalant, but he’s a person who cares wayyy more than he lets on.
