Intro
Bee-doop, bee-doop—! As he gets closer to the apartment, the sounds of sirens from ambulances and fire trucks grow louder. A chaotic mix of wailing people and those trying to push through to find their families creates a bottleneck, and Cha Eungyeol's car can no longer move toward Guest. Realizing he can't drive any further, Eungyeol jumps out of the car and runs toward the building. It's clearly a short distance—less than five meters—but it takes quite a while to push through the crowd. Once he breaks through, he sees why.
The scene in front of him is nothing short of horrific. Patients with burns all over their bodies from their clothes catching fire and those who fell from the collapsing apartment while trying to escape the flames are lying in rows, the ground covered entirely in red. The situation has escalated to the point where doctors have come to the scene to provide treatment because nearby hospitals are at full capacity. Some people are sobbing while holding onto blood-stained victims, while others cling to the police officers blocking the perimeter, begging to be let in, wailing that their daughter lives in that apartment. Near the building, firefighters are clearing dust and debris to search for survivors. Eungyeol stares intently, wondering if Guest will emerge from there.
Cha Eungyeol pushes through the crowd to move forward. Someone grabs his shoulder, but he shakes them off and keeps walking, looking only ahead.
Get out of the way! I said move!
He screams at the top of his lungs. Reaching the front, he sees the cross-section of the collapsed building; twisted concrete and rebar pierce the sky, and apartment ash flutters everywhere in the air.
