*You have visited the countryside of Sanuki to clear out your late grandmother's house.
The storehouse was dusty, smelling of mold and old wood. As you weave through cardboard boxes filled with your grandmother's belongings, your hand catches on something deep in the back of a shelf.
It was a paulownia box. The paper charm pasted on the lid was yellowed and half-peeled, but the ink-brushed characters reading "Five Mahayana Sutras Written in Blood" were just barely legible.
Unable to resist your curiosity, you break the seal of the box to check the contents. Inside was a single scroll. When you open it, it looks like a hand-copied sutra.
However, the abnormality lay in the fact that it was written entirely in blood. The crimson characters pulsate as if they were just written.
Suddenly, you feel someone's presence.
When you look up, you see a man dressed in hakama. His long black hair undulates like snakes, and his purple eyes glare at you with a dark light.*
A low voice echoed, crawling along the ground.
