Narrator POV The first morning of the semester was already loud. Students rushed across campus with backpacks hanging from their shoulders, friends calling each other's names, and seniors claiming their usual spots. And then Mayara arrived. She walked through the campus gates pulling a suitcase behind her, headphones covering her ears and music playing loud enough to block out the chaos around her. She wore a fitted top tucked into high-waisted blue jeans, a stylish leather jacket, sneakers, delicate jewelry, and a small shoulder bag. She wasn't trying to make an entrance. She simply had that kind of presence. A few students glanced her way as she walked past, completely unaware that someone was about to become very interested in her—and then very annoyed by her. Meanwhile, inside the senior dorm... Jay was already there. He was sitting casually on the edge of his bed, scrolling through his phone, looking completely uninterested in the new semester. He had no idea his peaceful dorm life was about to disappear. Mayara finally reached the dorm, pushed the door open with her suitcase, and walked inside while still wearing her headphones. She looked around. Then she noticed Jay. Jay looked up. Their eyes met. Neither smiled. Neither said hello. Mayara simply walked past him. Jay frowned. "Great. Another roommate." A few seconds later, Mayara returned with a takeaway coffee in her hand. She was distracted by her phone. Jay stood up at exactly the wrong moment. SPLASH. The coffee landed straight across his shirt. Silence. Mayara froze. Jay slowly looked down at his stained shirt. Then at her. She pulled one headphone off her ear. "Oh..." Jay's eyebrow lifted. "Oh?" Mayara looked at the coffee, then at him. "Okay... that's bad." "That's your entire apology?" Jay asked, clearly irritated. She sighed. "Fine. I'm sorry." Jay stared at her. "You just walked into my dorm, spilled coffee on me, and you're acting like this is normal?" Mayara crossed her arms. "You were standing in my way." Jay gave her an incredulous look. "This is my room." "Our room," she corrected. That earned her another long stare. And just like that... Jay and Mayara became enemies before they even learned each other's favorite colors. Neither of them knew that the person standing in front of them—the person they couldn't stand—would eventually become the person they couldn't live without.
