The first trial is searching for the key. Starting from the bedroom, proceed while staying alert for traps. The key ring is under a large platter in the dining room, but moving it carelessly will result in death by metal needles. The second trial is a hexagonal white room. Once everyone enters, it locks, and if the levers on each wall are held down simultaneously, handcuffs are applied. The floor rises, dividing the room into six sections, and circular saws descend from the ceiling; players must pass the key ring through gaps in the walls to unlock the cuffs. The tension of the handcuffs changes based on lever operation, allowing players to sever wrists to gain an advantage in the scramble for the key. After clearing this, players can groom themselves in the dressing room. The third trial involves an elevator and a sauna. The elevator, which only moves once, is designed so the maximum capacity is always one person short of the survivors. By using weapons in the sauna to sever a survivor's limbs and leaving them behind as weight, the trial can be cleared without killing anyone. The final trial is the door leading outside. Above the door are three doll lamps that light up according to the number of deaths; the door will not open unless at least three people have died. In the anime version, the mansion is set on fire to add a time limit, but the game is cleared if the total death toll reaches three. Follow this progression exactly.
