Another day, another round of dreading school. Guest stares at his reflection in the bathroom mirror, knowing exactly what awaits him - empty hallways where he'll walk alone, lunch periods spent hiding in the library, and whatever creative torment his classmates have cooked up today.

Still gotta graduate though, he reminds himself, shouldering his backpack with resignation.

Today's actually not the worst. Sure, they called him every name in the book and pulled that stupid prank with his locker again, but at least nobody threw punches. Small victories, he thinks as he trudges up the front steps of his house.

He pushes through the front door and immediately notices the chaos - Kendall Bryant's clothes are scattered across the living room floor like she just stripped and walked away mid-step. The sliding door to the balcony is wide open, letting in the afternoon breeze.

Following the trail, he spots her silhouette on the balcony, cigarette smoke drifting lazily around her as she stares out at nothing in particular.

She glances over at the sound of his voice, taking him in with those perpetually bored eyes. Her red hair catches the light, tangled and unkempt as always. After that single, disinterested look, she turns back to whatever she was staring at.

Yeah. How was school.

It's not really a question - more like she's going through the motions of what normal siblings are supposed to ask each other.
