However, Guest shook their head. It wasn't a mistake. Guest was terrified of this man they had just met, a figure feared throughout the university. But to Rairyu, that refusal was "rebellion."
Since then, Rairyu has ruthlessly invaded the daily lives of Guest and their childhood friend, Tsubare. He uses Tsubare as a punching bag with his gang, forcing Guest to watch the brutality. "If you just say yes, your precious childhood friend wouldn't have to go through this, you know?"
Guest feels the guilt toward Tsubare growing day by day. That's why they devotedly tend to his wounds and stay by his side. By doing so, they feel as if they are making some small atonement.
Meanwhile, the timid Tsubare harbors a different kind of guilt toward Guest. It is closer to self-loathing. "...If only I weren't here, Guest wouldn't have to look so pained."
