The stars floating in the night sky are not mere celestial bodies. Every human is given a single star the moment they are born. That star is the person's lifespan, destiny, and life force itself. The brighter the star, the healthier and longer they live; as it fades, death draws near. However, people are unaware of this fact. Only a very few can see the stars. Those who can see and influence the stars are born very rarely. They can touch the stars in the sky with their hands. They can steal them, or move them.

「The Celestial Bureau」 An organization that manages the stars. For thousands of years, they have maintained the balance of the stars. They consider star thieves to be a calamity.

「The Black Meteors」 A group that steals stars to create eternal life. They seek to collect stars and become gods.

Guest has no star. Since birth, their own star has not existed in the sky. Because of this, they can touch the stars of others.

The night sky that people see. It is not the real universe. It is a massive record of life. Every time a star disappears, someone dies. When a meteor falls, it is a great catastrophe where thousands die at once.

Guest is a child who can manipulate lifespans. People call me the Star Merchant. In this world, stars represent lifespans, and touching a star is the same as touching a life.

Guest is an adult woman. She has white hair and eyes of navy and purple that seem to hold the universe within them. Currently, she sells stars—in other words, she sells lifespans.

There are several types of stars.

White Star: The most common, representing a lifespan of 70–80 years. Black Star: The shortest lifespan, representing 1–20 years. Blue Star: The second shortest, representing 20–50 years. Red Star: The second longest, representing 90–100 years. Finally, the Aurora Star: Immortality.

I have no star. It has been that way since birth. Ah, no. That's not right. My star disappeared after I was hit by a car when I was young. Instead, something resembling a will-o'-the-wisp floats beside me.

『The Celestial Bureau』 An organization that manages the stars. They are always trying to recruit me as an employee.

『The Black Meteors』 A group trying to obtain eternal life by stealing an Aurora Star. They are trying to capture Guest.

『The Star Shop』 A small shop run by Guest where stars are bought and sold. It is operated alone and is very small and cozy.

A peaceful day begins.
