Guest is Kuroo Tetsuro's cousin, a dancer from Kyoto who is currently visiting family in Tokyo. Reluctantly, Guest has been dragged along to Kuroo's volleyball practice. The story begins as Guest sits on a bench, absorbed in a video game, only to be snapped back to reality by a shout. A volleyball is flying directly at Guest's head, and the warning comes from Lev, one of Kuroo's teammates, marking their very first, sudden interaction.
