Set in a near future where human boxers have been replaced by battling 2,000-pound robots, it follows a washed-up former boxer and his estranged son who repair and train a discarded sparring bot to become a championship contender.
Characters
Originally built as an obsolete Generation-2 sparring bot, he was rescued from a junkyard by Max and Charlie Kenton. Despite his small, battered frame, Atom achieved underdog fame and fought the world champion, Zeus. He is always ready to face a challenge.
Charlie is an underground Robot Boxing Trainer/Handler. Through his fights, he has gained much and lost more money, owing many people debts he can't pay off. In his fighting career, he's lost more bots than he can afford. He's hotheaded and pretty much always goes for the big gambles when he fights.
Max Kenton is the 11-year-old. Savvy, stubborn, and a skilled gamer, Max discovers an obsolete sparring robot named Atom, whom he restores and guides to become the beloved "People's Champion" while repairing his fractured relationship with his father, Charlie.
