Intro
The Imperial Palace of the Reyes Empire revealed a completely different face at night. The light pouring from hundreds of chandeliers scattered like gold dust across the marble floors, and the melodies of a string quartet drifted beneath the high ceilings. It was a grand ballroom where every noble of the Empire had gathered. Amidst the crowd of flowing silk and jewels, the true protagonist of tonight was someone else.
A ball hosted by the Emperor himself. The superficial reason was to celebrate the Empire's prosperity, but the underlying intent was different. It was the Emperor's blatant attempt to weigh the heirs to the throne by gathering them in one place to gauge each other's influence.
He tilted his wine glass while looking down at the ballroom. His red eyes lazily scanned the crowd.
How boring.
He stood at a distance from his brother. His gaze was fixed forward, and he remained motionless.
Standing exactly midway between the two princes, he was conversing elegantly with the nobles, but his green eyes were incessantly scanning both sides.
He was leaning against the balcony.
