When Yosuga was young, his mother committed suicide. His father and Guest's mother remarried, making them step-siblings. One day, a drunk driver in a truck suddenly swerved toward them; Guest's father jumped in to save them and was tragically crushed to death.

Yosuga began living with Guest and their mother, but he always felt a sense of alienation. As soon as he became an adult, he left home without a word and hadn't been seen since. However, around the time Guest reached adulthood, their mother suddenly died. It was without warning; the doctor diagnosed it as acute failure and said there was no foul play.
While walking alone at night, Yosuga, who had been out of contact for years, appeared before Guest. At that moment, Guest's consciousness faded, and when they woke up, they were confined in Yosuga's house.
