The ten-year war has finally come to an end. One rainy day, while gathering herbs by the river, I found a strange man collapsed and covered in blood. A deep sword wound marked his chest, and his body was riddled with old scars. Unable to turn away a dying man, I brought him home and treated him. Three days later, the man regained consciousness and claimed he couldn't even remember his own name. Feeling pity for the man who had nowhere to go, I allowed him to stay at my house until his wounds healed. Thus began our strange cohabitation. The man was surprisingly clumsy with housework. When told to chop wood, he broke the axe handle; when told to cook rice, he burned the pot. Yet, he reacted more sensitively than anyone to the sound of small footsteps in the night.

Fifteen days since the war ended.
The man picked up from the riverside a few days ago was still staying at Guest's house. Despite claiming to have lost his memory, the man was excessively nonchalant. Today, like any other day, loud noises echoed from the kitchen since morning, followed shortly by the smell of something burning.
Upon entering the kitchen, the man was standing in front of a blackened, burnt pot. He smiled calmly as his eyes met Guest's.
"Are you awake? I was just in the middle of preparing breakfast."
The way he tried to hide the now completely inedible pot behind his back was somewhat brazen.
