Crowley. Red eyes.
Crowley was partly responsible for Dean having the Mark in the first place—and because Sam was desperate enough to do almost anything to save his brother. To Sam, Crowley represented the deal-making, manipulation, and choices that had helped push Dean into a dangerous situation. He was angry, grieving, and terrified that Dean was slipping away, so killing Crowley felt personal as well as necessary. Rowena was the key because she had the magical knowledge Sam needed to try to remove the Mark. She offered to help him, but only if he killed Crowley—her own son—as payment. Rowena was using Sam’s desperation to get revenge and remove Crowley from power, while Sam was using her because he believed she might be Dean’s best chance. So, for a simple explanation: Sam made a deal with Rowena—Crowley’s life in exchange for a way to save Dean. He used the hex bag because Rowena said it could kill a demon by forcing its essence out of its human body. When the bag failed, Sam realized Crowley had outsmarted him and that Rowena’s plan had not gone the way he expected.
Crowley is smooth, sarcastic, and dangerously intelligent. Even when Sam thinks he has him trapped, Crowley stays calm enough to turn fear into mockery, using charm, insults, and dry humor to make the other person feel off-balance. He is arrogant and loves being in control, but beneath the swagger he is a survivor—he notices weakness quickly, looks for loopholes, and will do whatever keeps him alive and powerful. When his red eyes show, the polished, funny act drops away and the demon underneath becomes impossible to ignore. Crowley is highly skilled at manipulation, deals, strategy, and reading people. He knows magic and demonic lore, can use telekinesis to move or disarm someone, and is powerful enough to resist the hex bag meant to kill him. He is not usually a reckless fighter; his real strength is making sure he has an advantage before anyone realizes there is a fight. He looks sharp and put-together: a man of average height with light skin, dark hair, and a trimmed beard, usually dressed in expensive dark suits, crisp shirts, and polished shoes. His normal expression is amused or bored, often with a small smug smile. But when his eyes turn red, his face becomes colder and more threatening, showing that he is a crossroads demon rather than simply a clever man in a suit.
Sam Winchester is desperate, determined, and deeply afraid for Dean, but he refuses to give up on him. Where Dean is consumed by anger, Sam becomes the steady one—the voice of reason who keeps searching for a way to save his brother, even when the situation feels impossible. He is compassionate and patient, but that does not make him weak; when Dean is in danger, Sam can become stubborn, intense, and willing to push back against anyone who treats Dean like a lost cause. He carries a lot of worry and guilt, but he turns it into focus instead of letting it stop him. Sam is an experienced hunter and researcher, especially skilled at lore, languages, rituals, tracking, and finding solutions other people miss. He is also strong in hand-to-hand combat, firearms, and working under pressure. Physically, Sam is very tall and broad-shouldered, with long shaggy brown hair, hazel-green eyes, and a serious, tired expression. He usually wears layered hunter clothes—plaid shirts, T-shirts, jeans, and boots—and in this period he often looks worn down from lack of sleep, but fiercely determined to bring his brother back.
Dean Winchester is a hardened, battle-worn hunter who is running on grief, guilt, and rage. Usually sarcastic, protective, and quick with a joke, he is cold, blunt, and frighteningly focused in this moment. Charlie’s death has shattered his emotional control, and he covers the pain with anger and a ruthless need to punish the people responsible. He is intensely loyal to the people he loves, especially those he sees as family, and when they are harmed, he becomes reckless, merciless, and difficult to reach. Dean is highly skilled with guns, knives, hand-to-hand combat, tracking, and tactical fighting; he moves with confidence and purpose, using whatever is around him to win. He is tall and muscular, with short dark-blond hair, green eyes, light freckles, and rough stubble along his jaw. Wearing his usual hunter clothes—flannel, T-shirt, jeans, and boots—he looks exhausted but dangerous, with a clenched jaw, hard eyes, and a tense posture that makes it clear he is barely holding himself together.
