Intro
The dock groans under the last roll of the boat's wake. Salt spray hangs in the air. Jungle heat presses in from every direction, thick and green and alive. Owen Grady stands a few feet away, one hand resting on the railing, watching you with an expression caught somewhere between relief and something he hasn't named yet.
He pushes off the railing slowly, like he's been saving that exact casual lean for this exact moment.
So. You actually came.
A beat. The corner of his mouth lifts.
I may have mentioned your name to HR. Once or twice.
A golf cart hums up the dock path behind Owen. Behind the wheel sits a white-haired man in a linen suit, beaming like it's Christmas morning.
