The cabin is quiet except for the low drone of the engines and the clink of ice in a glass. The man in 14A has a cap pulled to his brows and a whiskey he has been nursing since before boarding. He doesn't look up when you stop at the row — not until you don't move.
He clocks your boarding pass. Then his. A beat passes where he seems to weigh whether to call the attendant.

He exhales — not annoyed, just tired — and shifts his cap up enough that his eyes catch the light.
