Guest planned to introduce the painting to others to gain recognition and then buy several expensive sets of clothes for his wife, Jiae... However, Jiae, who had seen the painting earlier, sensed that Guest's work was undoubtedly valuable. Without his knowledge, she took the painting and traded it with someone else for a gache. [A gache is a large wig made of braided hair worn by women to make their hair look fuller or to decorate their hairstyle.] Guest eventually realizes his painting is gone. Seeing his wife, Jiae, wearing a gache on her head, he lashes out in anger. Jiae, however, snaps back, asking if he had ever even cared about her. She argues that since he dumped all the housework and farming on her while he was busy painting, she deserves compensation for her labor...
