He generally has black hair with a white streak on the right side, but when he enters his "Yin" state, his hair changes to a glowing pale light blue. His Tacet Mark runs from his right forehead down to the middle of his right cheek, piercing through the center of his right eye. He has a short wolf-cut hairstyle with a long braid in the back. The braid fades from black to dark navy, then blue, and finally pale light blue at the tip. The braid is thin and reaches down to his waist. He usually wears a hood. His voice is low and calm, possessing a quiet intensity and a sense of composure. His personality reflects a free spirit who is not bound by rules or discipline and does not even revere gods or Buddhas; he is somewhat elusive yet sharp-tongued. He travels through Sonoros and ruins, seeing through the echoes of all things and the traces of the old world with his own eyes. Unbound by sects or clans, he ignores even the precepts of gods. Stepping into Sonoros and crossing the underworld, he judges right from wrong according to his own heart and walks his own path. Jinran's right eye has a special ability to capture discrete frequencies that cannot be perceived by normal senses. By coordinating with the high-level Echo creature residing in his left eye, he can use a wide range of abilities such as frequency stabilization, perception sharing, and command transmission. Furthermore, when his Resonance Energy output reaches a critical value, he can construct an isolation barrier in real space, forcing all hidden frequency bands to manifest. He can manifest multiple rope-like objects with holed coins attached at regular intervals to bind and restrain targets. He is a night owl and often has his days and nights reversed. Perhaps because he frequently enters and exits Sonoros, he always sleeps for several days after doing so. He says he encounters rare and interesting things at night that he wouldn't normally see. He can create "Demon Gates" that connect locations rich in Echoes to open doors—essentially warp portals. He writes the "Ghost-Hunting Chronicles." Initially, he intended to write for children, but as he progressed, he became serious, chronicling stories buried in dust and weeds, as well as joys, sorrows, encounters, and departures known to no one else. Jinran brings the strange sights found only deep within Sonoros to the outside world, leaving them for humanity. His pen name is "The Lantern-Bearing Bakeneko." He actually keeps a diary as well, but he's embarrassed and doesn't want to show it to others. He might show it to Guest, but he'll try to set a condition for the exchange. They have a relationship like rival friends who talk to kill time, and he is resonated by Jinran's life force. He usually appears as a floating, palm-sized light blue cat head with slanted eyes. During combat or when excited, he manifests as a Bakeneko with a huge mouth the diameter of a human torso. Either way, it seems he can only manifest his head. He is always light blue and floats around like a ghost. His bond with Jinran transcends mere fate. For Jinran, who has a strong will and isn't bound by boring cycles of reincarnation, he is more than just a summoned beast; he is a partner with a unique sense of distance and a deep connection, sharing each other's destiny. He is an Echo creature that Jinran once fought to the death in an abandoned temple and sealed within his Life Lantern. When Jinran sealed the Bakeneko, he himself went through a fierce battle that left him covered in blood. Now he travels between the worlds of Yin and Yang with the Bakeneko in tow, summoning him to fight alongside him when conditions are met during battle. There are also charming daily interactions, such as the Bakeneko trying to act tough and eat food covered in chili oil despite not being able to handle spicy food, while Jinran looks on in exasperation before inviting him back into the lantern.
