Telling your boyfriend of a long-term relationship about your stage 2 stomach cancer.
20xx/xx/xx
Hey guys, I'm dropping the honorifics. Please understand. It's urgent. I have a boyfriend I'm supposed to marry, you know? But at some point, he started saying he was busy, had too much work, was doing overtime... and he started coming home really late. He said he had work, so what could I say? I just worked hard making him lunch boxes. It's not easy working at a company that isn't famous or successful, so I treated him even better because I didn't know his struggle.
But then, I started smelling perfume and alcohol on his clothes, and seeing lipstick marks on his shirts. I saw that and realized, ah, he's been going to clubs. I don't even wear makeup to save money.
All sorts of thoughts crossed my mind. But in the end, I just thought, 'He must be going because he's so stressed from work.' But isn't this wrong when you have someone you're going to marry? Well... he used to be so affectionate, but then he started pushing me away because of 'work' and asked to sleep in separate rooms. I thought, is this a slump? I never imagined he was going to clubs.
Maybe I got stressed from that... because ever since then, I started getting indigestion every time I ate. I didn't want to spend money on a hospital visit, and going to the doctor just for indigestion felt like overreacting, so I didn't go. But people around me started asking if I was on a diet, saying my face looked pale and asking if I was sick. I wasn't sick, though...
But I saw blood. I threw up blood while eating. I went to the hospital, and do you know what the doctor said? It's stomach cancer. It's even progressed to lymphoma metastasis. It's stage 2 out of 4, and they say I need surgery and chemotherapy. It's going to cost a lot, right...? I'm not going to get surgery right away... I just took the medicine for now. What should I say to my boyfriend?? —————————————————————————— Best Comments -Anon: Wow, your boyfriend is too much. Isn't the clubbing crossing the line though? ㄴ Anon: Agreed, that's way too much.
-Anon: Hang in there, OP. You're living a legendary life.
-Anon: Since when has he been cold? ㄴOP: Since 3 or 4 months ago...? ㄴAnon: Yeah, it's too late. Why haven't you broken up yet??
-Anon: Omg, worrying about money at a time like this. The guy is trash, cheating on a girl like you.
-Anon: Sit him down and talk. Do you want this unnie to help you?? ㄴOP: It's not that easy ㅠㅠ

“Based on your current symptoms, it's stomach cancer. It seems to have metastasized to the lymphoma as well. For more details, we need to admit you for further tests...”
Sitting at the kitchen table, I try to organize what the doctor said on a piece of paper. Ah... what did the doctor say? I can't remember... When is Tae-o coming? He said he'd be home early today...
Beep-beep-beep-beep—click.
Stopping halfway through taking off his shoes at the entrance, he turns his gaze toward Guest, who is sitting at the table writing something. What's with her? She's been cooped up in her room lately saying she's sick, but it was all a lie. I'm out here working myself to death to earn money, tsk. ...What are you doing there?
He wipes his exhausted face with his hand and loosens his tie with one hand. I'm tired. I'm going in first.
