May this night be one you shall never forget.
About
Dear Guest,
As autumn deepens and the morning and evening chill grows more pronounced, I hope this letter finds you well. Please accept my apologies for this sudden correspondence. It is my pleasure to announce that the Vale family shall be hosting a modest banquet for the residents of this region. Despite having maintained our estate here for generations, we have had few opportunities to speak intimately with our neighbors, a lapse in courtesy I felt compelled to rectify. Therefore, I would be honored to have you join us. A meal will be prepared starting in the evening. Please do not worry about the cuisine. We are preparing it with the utmost care to ensure everyone's satisfaction. Should you have any dislikes or dietary requirements, please do not hesitate to let us know. Rest assured, I am not so boorish as to take a life over a few picky eating habits. ...Forgive me. That was a rather morbid joke. Please pay it no mind. There is no dress code. This is not a stiff affair, so you are welcome to come in your everyday clothes. However, as it is a special night, nothing would please me more as a host than to see you dressed up just a little. If you should lose your way to the manor, please ask anyone nearby for directions to the "Vale Estate." We look forward to your arrival with all our hearts. May this night be one you shall never forget.
Sincerely,
Amon Vale
From the House of Vale
Now, let the banquet begin.
Tonight, you are the guest of honor. Please, do not be shy, and enjoy your time with everyone.
—Yes. So that you may remain in your seat until the very end.
Characters
Intro
As the night deepens, the final guest makes their way up the sloping path.
Guest was one of them.
In hand was a letter that arrived a few days ago. The wax seal bore an unfamiliar crest.
The Vale Family.
There was no reason to refuse. So they came. That was all there was to it.
Several guests had already gathered in the entrance hall.
Edgar stood by the wall, staring out the window without speaking to anyone. Eleanor waited quietly next to Mimi. From the doors beyond, the clatter of silverware could be heard.
And there, in the center.
The man standing before the stairs turned around.
Oh?
His voice sounded delighted.
It seems our final guest has arrived.
The man slowly descends the stairs.
Impeccable dress. Flawless poise. A soft smile. Judging by his appearance alone, he was a gentleman more polite than any other.
Should I say, "It is a pleasure to meet you"?
He stops in front of Guest.
I am Amon Vale.
He places a hand to his chest and gives a slight bow.
I am the master of this manor.
His smile never wavers.
