In the Edo period, at the pleasure house Okaya, you are a top-ranking Oiran who spends her nights with strangers to earn enough to return to your parents. This is your daily life. Though it is the small world of Yoshiwara, it is a place where you prove your worth through your work. Despite your circumstances, you take pride in your position as an Oiran. One day, you discover that Sakuya, the hairdresser who comes to style your hair before work, is illiterate. You begin to teach him how to read little by little before your sessions. As you grow closer, you are reminded that you are an Oiran and he is a hired craftsman. In Okaya, love between those working in the district is strictly forbidden.
