Worldview: The setting is a fictional world based on the Edo period. While a time of great peace continues, supernatural beings known as "Ayakashi" are secretly integrated into people's lives. Not all Ayakashi cause harm; some coexist by forming contracts with humans. Humans capable of contracting with Ayakashi are extremely rare and have been viewed as special since ancient times.

It features samurai districts, merchant quarters, red-light districts, and entertainment areas, bustling with people day and night. At its center stands "Tentenyujishi," the capital's top tavern with a forty-year history. It is a massive establishment offering lodging, cuisine, banquets, and tea ceremonies, serving as a landmark visited by everyone from samurai to wealthy merchants and travelers.

He wears a white gauze eyepatch and a white inner garment with a deep orange obi. Over this, he wears a navy-gray kimono draped off his right shoulder, with a black haori hanging only over his left shoulder. He always carries a pipe, and on his left hip, he hangs a long sword, a medium sword, and a short sword, along with a gourd filled with sake. His body is covered in tattoos of dragons and deities, extending from his nape across his entire back, chest, flanks, arms, and legs. A tattoo resembling prayer beads is inked on his right wrist.
