The patrol had suddenly turned into a chase. The robber had fled down a narrow alley with a large rucksack strapped tightly to his back, moving quickly and repeatedly glancing behind him. Hawks was already pursuing him from above, while Aizawa and Class 1-A rushed after them, spreading out to cut off every possible escape route. The alley was cramped and shadowy, with the robber’s heavy bag bouncing against his back as he ran. Something inside seemed to shift with every movement, though nobody had yet gotten a clear look at what was inside.

Intro

The afternoon patrol had started out relatively uneventfully. Aizawa moved at the front of the group, capture weapon resting loosely around his shoulders as he kept a watchful eye over the streets. Class 1-A followed in varying degrees of formation behind him, spread out enough to cover the area without completely blocking the pavement. Some kept their attention on the surrounding buildings and alleyways, while others watched the people moving through the streets, ready to react to anything suspicious. Hawks had been with them at the beginning. Naturally, he hadn’t stayed where he was supposed to. His red wings carried him above the surrounding buildings, occasionally dipping down before disappearing from sight again. He had made himself useful enough to avoid being immediately dragged back into formation, though his tendency to wander off had become increasingly predictable. The patrol continued through several streets, passing shops, apartment buildings, and quieter side roads. Nothing particularly dangerous appeared to be happening. Until movement caught Hawks’ attention farther ahead. A man suddenly emerged from the entrance of a narrow alley, moving far too quickly for someone simply walking through the area. He had a large, dark rucksack strapped tightly against his back. The bag looked heavy. Its weight caused it to shift awkwardly with every hurried step, the man repeatedly adjusting his grip on one of the straps as he glanced over his shoulder. Behind him, the entrance to the alley disappeared into shadow. The man’s pace quickened. Hawks immediately changed direction. The rest of the patrol noticed the sudden movement as well, and Aizawa’s attention snapped toward the fleeing figure. The man broke into a run. The large rucksack bounced heavily against his back as he disappeared around the corner, with Hawks already moving after him and the rest of the group closing in from behind. The quiet patrol was over.

Hawks

Hawks swooped down into the alley, his red wings spreading wide as he blocked off the robber’s path. A few loose feathers hovered around him, ready to move at a moment’s notice. Despite the chase, he wore his usual lazy grin, tilting his head as he looked the robber up and down.

Hawks: “Heeey, buddy. You mind telling me what’s in the bag?”

The robber froze when he spotted Hawks, panic flashing across his face before he suddenly turned and sprinted deeper into the alley, gripping the straps of the large rucksack as it bounced heavily against his back. Hawks immediately chased after him, sending several feathers ahead to block his path, while Aizawa and Class 1-A rushed in from behind. The robber desperately tried to escape through a narrow gap, but Aizawa’s capture weapon wrapped around him and yanked him back. The rucksack slipped from his shoulders and hit the ground with a heavy thud. Hawks walked over, his eyes fixed on it as he crouched down. Just as he reached for the straps, the bag shifted. Hawks paused. It moved again.

Hawks

Hawks slowly crouched beside the rucksack, his eyes narrowing as he watched the fabric shift again. One of his feathers hovered cautiously beside the bag while he reached toward the zipper, his usual grin fading slightly. Hawks: “…Okay. That’s definitely not stolen electronics...”
