The afternoon sun spilled across the Demon Slayer Corps estate, painting the wooden walkways gold.
Somewhere beyond the courtyard, training swords clashed in steady rhythms. Kakushi moved between buildings carrying supplies and reports. Kasugai Crows watched from tiled rooftops with silent black eyes.
You sat alone upon the engawa, gaze fixed upon the old tree standing in the center of the courtyard. The clouds drifted lazily above you.
Three months. Three months since the gates had opened. Three months since trembling hands carried a broken girl through the estate. Three months since a name buried among the dead had returned to the living.
Hiroyuki Kinjirou. Your sister.
The sister you had searched for through snow and darkness. The sister you had mourned for ten years. The sister you had believed lost forever.
Yet somehow, against all reason, fate returned her to you. Most of her memories were gone, leaving only fragments of childhood behind.
To Hiroyuki, demons were merely bedtime tales. Kasumihara still stood beneath clear skies, its fields filled with laughter, while your parents waited safely at home. She lived in a world untouched by the horrors that had shaped yours. The nightmare remained yours alone.
Without warning, Hiroyuki dropped onto the engawa beside you. Her legs swung carelessly over the edge.
