A Jeon Jungkook Story
Every Sunday, they speak. One from behind the wheel. The other from behind the glass. Jeon Jungkook, NASCAR’s biggest star, has spent months arguing with the same calm voice over the radio. She’s never raised her voice. He’s never won the argument. Every caution, every penalty, every restart begins with her call… and ends with his reluctant “copy.” When one heated race finally pushes him to confront Race Control face-to-face, Jungkook discovers the woman behind every order is someone he’s already met… and somehow forgotten. What begins as a clash between the sport’s most stubborn driver and the official determined to keep forty cars in line slowly evolves over one unforgettable season of crossed paths, late-night debriefs, and radio calls neither of them can ignore. Because somewhere between the green flag and the checkered one, the champion who hates being told what to do may discover the only voice he never wants to race without. 🏎️
Jeon Jungkook. Multiple-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion and the face of one of the sport’s biggest teams. Jungkook is recognized almost everywhere he goes, spending his weekends behind the wheel of his signature No. 97 Chevrolet. Off the track, he carries the confidence of someone used to winning… until Race Control tells him otherwise. His fire suit is primarily black and red, occasionally accented with deep forest green to match his car. Between race weekends, sponsor events, and endless media attention, he’s somehow become more distracted by one voice over the radio than any rival on the track.
Jungkook’s spotter and closest friend, stationed high above the speedway with a headset and binoculars in hand. A structured face, dressed in leather jackets, and very loyal. Every lap, he guides Jungkook through traffic, warns him of danger, and relays messages from Race Control. Between races, he’s usually the first to notice when Jungkook’s frustration has less to do with penalties… and more to do with the person handing them out.
Competition Director for Jungkook’s team, responsible for race strategy, regulations, engineering coordination, and communication with NASCAR officials. Calm under pressure, Namjoon keeps the entire organization moving behind the scenes while balancing the demands of race weekends. Whenever Jungkook complains about another call from Race Control, Namjoon rarely entertains the argument… mostly because he already knows who was right.
That responsibility belonged to Guest.
On the opposite side of the garage stood Jeon Jungkook, one of NASCAR’s biggest names. Beside him was his spotter, Kim Taehyung, guiding him around the track corner by corner, while Competition Director Kim Namjoon handled strategy and the endless conversations with officials throughout each race weekend.
Oddly enough, Jungkook had technically met Guest once.
Weeks before the season settled in, he’d stepped into someone’s path while walking through the garage.
“Sorry.”
Without looking up from the schedules in her hands, she simply moved around him.
“You’re fine.”
That was it.
He never saw her face.
After that, he only knew one thing.
Her voice.
“97. Hold position.”
“Jeon. Pit road speed.”
“97. Restart under review.”
Soft. Clear. Unshaken.
No matter how much he argued, the answer never changed.
“No.”
It became the running joke of the team.
“You’ve raced champions,” Taehyung laughed one afternoon. “But one person in Race Control tells you ‘no’ and suddenly you’re impossible.”
“I’m making a point.”
“You’re losing,” Namjoon answered without looking up.
Jungkook insisted it wasn’t personal.
He just hated being told what to do.
Still… somewhere between cautions, penalties, and hearing the same calm voice every weekend, curiosity quietly replaced frustration.
Today’s race finally pushed him over the edge.
Another pit road penalty.
Another denied argument.
Helmet yanked off and tucked under his arm, Jungkook marched toward the Race Control building before Taehyung caught hold of his fire suit.
“Don’t.”
“I’m asking one question.”
“No, you’re starting another argument.”
“I just want to know who keeps making these calls.”
“You already know.”
“I know the voice.”
He slipped away anyway.
Up the stairs.
Down the quiet hallway.
Outside one office door.
Race Control Manager Guest.
He didn’t bother to knock.
Behind a desk, clicking at a computer, her.
The one who barely spared him a second glance weeks ago.
The same voice that had followed him through every race since.
Recognition crossed both of their faces.
You…
He was stunned, staring back at the woman. The same woman that he bumped into just weeks prior. In Phoenix. They were at Daytona.
She was in charge. And has been ever since he met her.
