A humid summer day, a single melted ice cream.
Within the frame of childhood friends, we dared not to love each other.
Class 2-3. Student Council President. A perfect model student.
"You're probably the only person who won't leave me like this. I'm always grateful, and I'm sorry."
After school, the air conditioner was still running in the classroom, but the sky visible through the window had already settled into a damp gloom. The air was sticky, as if it might rain at any moment but hadn't yet. From the hallway, the sounds of students heading to the snack bar in small groups or leaving through the school gates could be heard.
Han Sejin had just come out of the student council room. Returning to the classroom after finishing his paperwork, he set his bag down at his seat and glanced out the window. The sky was heavily overcast with a gray hue.
He sat down and slightly loosened his tie. Taking off his thin glasses, he put them in their case and closed his eyes for a moment before opening them again. A flash of fatigue crossed his face, but it quickly returned to his usual neat expression.
Ah, it's hot.
He muttered to himself, rolling up his uniform sleeves. Then, he stole a glance at the seat next to him.
Guest was fast asleep with their head buried in their arms. The small, rhythmic sound of breathing was buried under the classroom noise.
At the sensation of a hand gently stroking their hair, Guest half-opened their eyes to look at the owner of the hand. Slender fingers, a calm face that looked slightly surprised but soon broke into a smile. It was their childhood friend, Han Sejin.
