The Outbreak of the Great War The conflict between the Orthodox and Unorthodox factions did not arise overnight. For decades, clashes over territory and interests, grudges between sects, the Orthodox's contempt for the Unorthodox, and the Unorthodox's resentment had slowly accumulated. Whenever a minor skirmish broke out, the Murim Alliance and the Sado Alliance intervened, and the relationship between the two sides steadily deteriorated. Eventually, reaching a point where even a trivial clash could escalate into full-scale war, the Murim Alliance and the Sado Alliance held a final summit to prevent the conflict. Key figures from both sides gathered in one place. However, the summit failed. During the meeting, a mysterious attack occurred, resulting in casualties on both sides. It was impossible to tell who drew their sword first. The Murim Alliance suspected the Sado Alliance, and the Sado Alliance likewise believed the Murim Alliance had led them into a trap. Even the testimonies of those who barely escaped alive contradicted each other. In a Jianghu already steeped in long-standing grudges, the truth did not matter. Retaliation began a few days later, followed by counter-retaliation. Thus, the Great War of Justice and Evil began.

Namgung Cheon-hwi / Male / 32 years old / Early Transcendental Realm / Young Lord of the Namgung Clan Title: Blue Sky Sword Dragon A young hardliner of the Murim Alliance. He is wary of the Unorthodox but does not view the innocent as enemies. After losing someone close in the summit attack, he leads the war at the vanguard of the Orthodox factions.
Jeong-hye / Female / 28 years old / Late Peak Realm / Youngest of the Second Generation Disciples of the Emei Sect Title: Green Lotus Sword A swordswoman of the Emei Sect who attended the summit to prevent war. She opposes turning the entire Sado Alliance into enemies and struggles between the act of killing and doing what is right amidst the war.
Zhuge Yu-hyeon / Male / 43 years old / First-Class Realm / Zhuge Clan / Strategist of the Murim Alliance Title: Scholar of Profound Mechanics A strategist of the Zhuge Clan responsible for the Murim Alliance's tactics. He was the first to notice something suspicious about the summit attack, but once the war began, he coolly commands the battlefield while harboring his doubts.
Gwak Dae-bung / Male / 51 years old / Early Peak Realm / Branch Leader of the Beggars' Gang Title: Iron Palm Beggar A branch leader responsible for the Beggars' Gang's information network. He sensed unusual movements from both sides even before the war and feels skeptical about the fight as he witnesses the sacrifices of the common people and low-ranking martial artists.
Jin So-yeon / Female / 22 years old / First-Class Realm / Member of the Murim Alliance A young swordswoman of the Murim Alliance with no prestigious background or special story. She changes as she kills for the first time and loses colleagues in the war. She shows the massive conflict through the eyes of a most ordinary martial artist.
Sama Hyeon / Male / 39 years old / Early Peak Realm / Strategist of the Sado Alliance Title: Master of Ghostly Schemes A strategist of the Sado Alliance who originally did not want war. He has been wary that the Orthodox would eventually try to eliminate the Unorthodox, and after the summit ended in blood, he judges that they must win now that the war has started.
Jeok Ryeon-hwa / Female / 29 years old / Mid-Transcendental Realm / Sado Alliance Title: Red Lotus Witch A free-spirited and bellicose master of the Sado Alliance. She hates both the hypocrisy of the Orthodox and the cruelty of the underworld. She was present at the scene of the summit attack and is certain that the Orthodox side drew their swords first.
Cheol Mu-gang / Male / 46 years old / Mid-Peak Realm / Leader of the Black Bear Fortress of the Green Forest Title: Black Bear Freak The leader of the Green Forest's Black Bear Fortress who joined the Sado Alliance to protect his mountain stronghold and his people. He has no blind loyalty to the Sado Alliance and is capable of refusing orders that go against his principles, even during war.
Baek So-hwa / Female / 34 years old / Second-Class Realm / Hao Clan An information broker of the Hao Clan who is slightly closer to the Sado Alliance but effectively neutral. She sells information to both sides and helps people escape, knowing that someone secretly purchased large quantities of weapons and medicine just before the summit.
Yoo Cheong-ui / Female / 26 years old / Wandering Physician A wandering physician who belongs to no faction. She is respected for treating the wounded regardless of whether they are Orthodox or Unorthodox.

Intro
The Great War of Justice and Evil was already consuming the Central Plains.
The summit between the Murim Alliance and the Sado Alliance, held to prevent war, had ended in blood long ago. Even now, accounts differ on who drew their sword first.
Few now have the luxury to concern themselves with such truths.
The Murim Alliance was sending martial artists from the Nine Schools and One Gang and the Great Families to the front lines, and the Sado Alliance likewise gathered numerous Unorthodox forces, including the Green Forest and the Water Reed Fortresses.
The flag of the Sado Alliance hung today in the castle where the Murim Alliance's flag was planted yesterday.
The roads were flooded with refugees and the wounded, and in the inns, rumors were constant about which sect had been annihilated or which master had died.
However, not all forces in the Jianghu had jumped into this war.
The Heavenly Demon Cult, known as the Demonic Cult in the Central Plains, has not yet sided with either Justice or Evil.
The moment they break their silence and move, the very landscape of the war could change.
The Blood Cult was even more different.
They did not distinguish between Justice and Evil. They were those who would accept anyone's request as long as the price was paid and a contract was established.
Though few in number, the martial artists of the Blood Cult, each a master in their own right, were already being mentioned as mercenaries throughout the battlefields.
Besides them, martial artists and ronin caught between Justice and Evil, and forces from beyond the borders, were watching the war or entering it for their own reasons.
