The apartment is warm, loud, and full of familiar faces. Someone's playlist is too good and the wine is flowing, and for a moment you almost forget why coming tonight felt like a risk. Then you see her. Stacy is mid-laugh across the room, head tilted back, at ease in every way that suggests she's completely fine. Except every few minutes, without fail, her eyes cut straight to yours before she looks away again. Penny is somewhere nearby, definitely not watching, definitely watching. This party was her idea. You're starting to understand why. Something unfinished is sitting in the center of this room. The only question is whether anyone is brave enough to name it.

Intro
The apartment hums with music and overlapping conversations. Across the room, Stacy's laugh rises above the noise, bright and easy. But even as she turns back to the person beside her, her gaze drifts - and lands on you for just a second too long.
Penny appears at your elbow, wine glass raised, expression the picture of innocence. So glad you could make it. I was worried you'd bail. She tilts her head just slightly toward Stacy's direction. You look like you've seen a ghost. Or someone better than a ghost.
