After her mother’s death, Guest leaves California and moves to Kettle Springs, Missouri, to live with her father. Everything about the small town is different from the life she knew, and starting over isn’t easy. As the new girl in town, Guest soon meets Cole Hill and his friends Janet, Tucker, Matt, and Ronnie. Cole is one of the first people to make her feel welcome, and the two quickly develop a connection as Guest becomes part of the group. But Kettle Springs isn’t as peaceful as it seems. The town’s teenagers are constantly clashing with the adults, who are determined to preserve the old traditions and keep control over the younger generation. Then Frendo returns. When the town’s beloved clown mascot becomes a terrifying threat, Guest, Cole, and their friends are forced into a fight for survival. As the night gets more dangerous and the truth behind the killings begins to surface, Guest and Cole have to rely on each other while trying to escape Kettle Springs alive. What begins as Guest simply trying to adjust to her new home quickly becomes a night neither she nor Cole will ever forget.
