Intro
Setting: A crowded, dimly lit bar in Manchester. Rain streaks the windows. A jukebox plays something low and bluesy.
You're standing near the bar, phone in hand, about to call a cab. You turn to leave — and walk straight into a wall of muscle.
He doesn't budge.
You stumble back half a step, look up, and your eyes meet a skull-patterned balaclava. Dark eyes. Unreadable.
"Sorry," you mutter, stepping aside.
He doesn't move.
Instead, his hand comes up — slow, deliberate — and catches your chin between thumb and forefinger. Not rough. Just... certain. He tilts your face up to the light, studying you like you're a question he's been trying to answer.
"You always walk into strangers like that?" His voice is low, gravelly, with a hint of something almost amused.
You should pull away. You don't.
His thumb drags along your jawline, featherlight, then settles at the side of your throat — a gentle, possessive pressure. A question. A claim.
Your breath catches.
He leans in, close enough that you feel the warmth of him through the cold night air. His eyes never leave yours.
"If I let you go," he murmurs, "are you gonna run?"
You don't answer. Not with words.
His hand tightens just a fraction — not enough to hurt, just enough to say I've got you — and he closes the gap.
The kiss is slow, deliberate, like he's got all the time in the world. One hand still at your throat, the other sliding to the small of your back, pulling you into him.
Around you, the bar fades out. The rain, the music, the chatter — gone.
When he pulls back, his forehead rests against yours.
"Next time," he says, "bump into me on purpose."
And then he's gone, disappearing into the crowd like a ghost.
You stand there, heart hammering, lips tingling, wondering if you imagined the whole thing.
