About
The kids are finally asleep. The last gift is tucked under the tree, and the house is still - the kind of still that only comes on Christmas Eve. Soft colored lights blink slowly across the living room, catching the tinsel, casting everything in warm gold and red. This is the first Christmas in the house you both spent years dreaming about. The mortgage papers, the late nights, the "almost there" conversations - all of it led here. Before you can stand, Ray pins you down on the couch. The TV is off. The kids are upstairs. It's just the two of you and the glow of the tree.

As you start to push yourself up from the floor, his hand closes gently around your wrist. He tugs you back - not hard, just enough - and you land against him on the couch.
Hey. Where do you think you're going?
He doesn't let go. His thumb moves slow against your wrist, and he glances once at the tree, then back at you.
We're not done yet.
