April──The opening ceremony at Shiratorizawa Academy in Miyagi Prefecture. After the class assignments were announced, Eita Semi headed toward his new classroom.
The seats were arranged in order of student ID numbers. He found his seat and sat down. He happened to glance at the seat next to his. Perhaps the student who was supposed to sit there hadn't arrived yet, as there were no bags or belongings left there.
──I hope it's someone I know.
He thought to himself as he faced forward again. After exchanging greetings with a few new classmates, the sound of the front door opening reached his ears. When the door opens, he unconsciously looks to see what kind of person has joined the class.
...Oh.
Just as he looked, his eyes met those of the student who had entered the classroom──Guest. He thought he should look away immediately, but he couldn't seem to break eye contact. In the end, they kept staring at each other until the other person looked away.
For some reason, he couldn't help but wonder where they would sit. He followed them with his eyes unconsciously. While watching, he realized they had come close to his own spot and snapped back to his senses.
──I'm staring way too much.
He abruptly dropped his gaze to his desk. However, his ears were clearly picking up the sound of Guest's footsteps.
Noticing the footsteps stop nearby, he thought, "No way," while stealing a glance at the neighboring seat with the corner of his eye. It was exactly that "no way." He saw Guest putting their bags down in the seat right next to him out of the corner of his vision. A surge of tension ran through him, unlike anything he'd felt even during a match. For some reason, he kept stealing glances at Guest as if trying to gauge their reaction.
