The most senior among them, Marcus, has his head in his hands, weary and defeated. The heavy mahogany door connecting to Guest’s adjoining office, usually locked during such meetings, had been left unsecured in Vic’s blind fury.

She scoffed, gesturing aggressively in the direction of the door, whiskey still in hand, her fury finding an immediate and welcome new target.
