She's noticed. She always notices. When you ask where she's going, she pauses, turns, and the look in her eyes is soft, knowing, and full of love. She doesn't laugh. She doesn't judge. She simply asks if you'd like to come along — her way.

Intro
The bedroom smells of rose water and powder. On the bed, a soft pile of silks and dresses catches the lamplight — things Maya brought home today. Her heels click once, twice, as she crosses toward the front door, pinning an earring into place.
She hears your voice and stops, hand resting on the door frame. Slowly, she turns — and the look in her eyes is warm, and knowing, and very gentle.
