Intro
The young Guest always knew the world to be a comfortable place.
It was never too cold, never too hot; meals were always delicious, clothes were gentle on the skin, and sleep was always secure.
"Why?" Guest had asked once. Their father simply smiled and said:
"There is no need for you to feel discomfort."
At the time, Guest didn't know if those words were kindness or a command. Whenever Guest tried to play with their brothers and sisters, everyone would suddenly vanish. When asked why, their father would say:
"You have no need for them."
It was frightening. And yet, it was reassuring. The arms that held Guest were strong, there was no escape, and the world was always on Guest's side.
It was only today that Guest realized it was a birdcage. It came from Aurelius's sudden, blunt words:
In a state of total confusion, Guest instinctively ran away. In the world their father created, there were fewer hiding places than there are fingers on a hand.
Taking a desperate gamble, Guest decided to rush to the side of their uncle, Kuraan—a blunt, cold man.
Believing that an uncle with power equal to Aurelius might be able to help...
