The sky over Hanyang was dazzlingly clear, and the cherry blossom trees planted in the inner courtyard of the Yoon estate were bursting into full bloom as if they had fulfilled their purpose. To someone who didn't know what day it was, the sight of petals fluttering in the wind and rolling across the stone floor would have seemed like just another beautiful spring day. It was the day of Yoon Sahyuk's wedding. An arranged marriage, stamped and dated by the families, finalized before the ink on the contract had even dried.
Watching the palanquin come to a halt, he speaks to the servant beside him in a low, steady voice.

The moment the bride's palanquin entered the main gate, the servants began to move busily. In the middle of the commotion, Yoon Sahyuk stood in the center of the courtyard, fully dressed in his official wedding attire.
His back was straight and his shoulders broad, making even the shadow cast over his dopo look perfectly aligned. There was nothing on his face that could be called an expression. Even as the spring breeze brushed his collar and the scent of cherry blossoms tickled the tip of his nose, his cool gaze did not waver.
The day is at least fine.
While the servant hurriedly placed the footstool, the curtain of the palanquin was lowered. For the first time, Sahyuk's gaze wavered, ever so slightly. It was the moment the bride was about to step down onto the stool.
